If you click Restart Later, it pops up again ten minutes later, like clockwork. It belongs to wuauclt. I tried killing wuauclt. I want automatic updates, but I also want to restart my computer when I feel like it. Is there any way to turn off this incredibly annoying nag dialog?
Right click the Automatic Updates service and stop it. After installing a windows update, a message asks if you want to restart now or later. Once I choose restart later, the message that you need to restart keeps coming back in a very annoying manner until I do the restart. Is there any way to disable this message? I know that I can avoid it if I choose Win Update at end of the day, but I usually forget at that time. I would like to choose when I restart my pc without being constantly told that I have not done it yet.
PeteC ,. We have to do both of these tasks in the Group Policy editor. To get to the Group Policy editor, click on Start and type in gpedit. In Windows 8, you can start typing while at the Start Screen. There are basically two settings that we have to manipulate to get what we want.
Set it to Enabled and Windows will wait for the logged on user to restart the computer instead of automatically trying to restart. You should also note that this setting would only apply if Windows Update is configured to install updates automatically. Using this setting, you can configure the restart message to come up again, but at a longer interval. Go ahead and double-click on the setting and set it to Enabled. Go ahead and change it to something like minutes, which is one day.
This is better if you want to still be reminded, but not so often. Instead of the normal 5-minute interval, you can specify a longer period for Windows to wait before performing an auto-restart. I apologize if this has been asked before, but I choose to run a third part antivirus program on my machine. Because of that I continue to get a warning message saying that Windows Defender is disabled. How can I disable this warning message?
I've tried disabling the service but Windows security won't allow me to do so. Please help. Step 1: Click Start, type msconfig in start search and press Enter. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro?
