Not only did they participate in academic activities, but they also had a wonderful time having fun and making new friendships.
My children will definitely be back next summer! This was our son's first camp experience and Manhattan College made it amazing. He felt immediately welcomed and was excited to go every single day.
I am truly grateful for all their hard work and dedication! We look forward to making this a summer tradition. Our daughter loved her experience and has discovered a love for robotics and deepened her love for engineering. As she embarks on to 2nd grade, we feel like her mind was expanded by all the learning and fun she had at your camp. Campers learn, and they have fun doing it. They learn teamwork skills and build self-esteem through daily activities. On a typical day, campers learn about plants during the science section of the day.
They would explore our green campus, trying to find some of the plants they learned about during science. For younger kids, discussing how many plants they found will be part of their math session. Older kids will do more complicated math activities that can be used in real-life situations. We have many fun activities to inspire your child to learn. Children will create several projects and be exposed to new art forms such as graphic design, drawing, painting, photo editing, and various mediums that students are already familiar with.
Children will be introduced to the basic topics of science through engaging activities and hands-on experiments. Children will expand their skills in computer applications that will prepare them for the rapid advancements in technology.
Campers will enjoy playing and learning coding with Ozobot and Sphero. Children are exposed to math activities to understand related math concepts better. Children will foster their reasoning and problem-solving skills through fun and creative activities.
Children will prepare scenes or full stories, based on their age range, once a week. Campers will learn the different roles for putting together a theater performance. Through fun activities, campers will present a short performance every Friday in collaboration with their peers.
Children will participate in assistant directors, props, effects, actors, actresses, dancers, and similar positions. NYU also offers summer programs for high school students. For a subject-specific and intensive experience, you may want to consider one of the specialized academic programs listed below. Each one focuses on one academic area, with the course curriculum already designed for you.
For high school students, it can also be a vehicle for self-discovery. What a better place to explore their talents, interests, and prospective career and education paths? As your child looks toward applying to and attending college, she will need to demonstrate that she has engaged in meaningful experiences and sought to develop intellectually and personally, even while on vacation. Often taking place on college and university campuses, summer programs give high schoolers a taste of college life while they learn in an immersive environment alongside peers who, like them, are passionate about a topic or niche.
Students are usually taught by college faculty and industry professionals and sometimes have the opportunity to get a head start on earning college credit, all while building confidence and independence, important skills they will need as they start their college journeys. Note that costs are estimates and can vary due to factors such as commuter or residential status and more.
Examining their own identity, students will explore individual and collaborative creative processes. They will participate in lectures, labs, discussions, studio projects, and field trips to museums and other sites while using tools and processes including prototyping with electronics, 3D printing, Arduino, e-textiles, movie-making and more. One- and four-week programs are available, as are commuter and residential options. The residential Academy takes place at Colgate University in Hamilton.
In this one-week nonresidential course at Hofstra University, students will learn basic writing skills and hone their own voice, applying these building blocks to SAT and college essay writing and other work.
Along with exploring the revision process, developing theses and supporting paragraphs, and more, students will participate in writing games and group activities. Learning from Marymount faculty and theater professionals, students who take part in this program at Marymount Manhattan College will explore the dance, voice, and acting process in New York City. These will develop fundamental skills and gain insight into the audition process, as well as attend Broadway shows and participate in activities.
