Role playing games in gameboy advance

This first entry to the iconic series was released in , and is still considered one of the finest 2D role-playing games of all time. You get to control four characters, even as they make their way through a fantasy-themed world, while battling monsters, gaining new abilities and more. These two games were released in with all the familiar elements of the vast series intact.

The classic SNES title which Tales of Phantasia was, just had to be ported to newer platforms for its purpose to be fulfilled. In came its GBA version which was derived from its PlayStation version that had added various changes including re-drawn character sprites and backgrounds, re-recorded character audio, slight changes to its Linear Motion Battle System battle system and a lot more.

It follows the story of a boy named Cress who sets out one day to correct his past mistakes and to learn more about history of his world. This game places you in the shoes of a hero named Ryu who happens to be a dragon morphing warrior.

We follow him on the journey on which he unknowingly embarks in search of his missing father and little sister. Eight different characters join Ryu along the way helping him get through to his goal.

This Game Boy Advance version even comes with a new feature which allows you to build and develop your own town, and enables item exchanges by means of the Link Cable. Other than bringing the classic NES experience to the palm of your hand, Dawn of Souls also introduces several small changes to gameplay, an updated Bestiary, and four additional dungeons to beef up the decade-old game.

While combat in this Action RPG is nothing out of the ordinary, your objective in each mission is. But the darker tone of the storyline was pretty exciting as a teenager. Puzzles are as complex as ever, and the visuals are top-notch. As the last entry in the Mega Man Battle Network series, the sixth installment was met with lukewarm reviews that accused the series of becoming stale after so many iterations. It keeps the same level of deep customization and challenging battles that made the series famous, and additions like the Cross System and Beat Out mode are a cool way to keep it fresh.

The story is nothing special this time around, but it does serve to tie several plot threads present since the very first game, which gave fans a much-needed sense of closure. What makes the third installment in the Tactical RPG series stand out from the rest is the expertly-written story, easily the best one out of all six iterations on the GBA. It follows Lan on his struggle to stop Dr. Wily and the evil WWW organization from releasing Alpha, a prototypical version of the Internet, bound to destroy society as they know it.

The music in this game does wonders for its most dramatic scenes, and it features one of the most emotional, heart-wrenching endings in the franchise… Well, almost. Other than this unique gimmick, the game is a very competent and visually striking action-RPG that follows Django on his quest to cleanse the land of evil vampires hence the weaponized sunlight. After a vampire steals his Gun del Sol and his hometown of San Miguel is destroyed, Django must once again embark on a quest against the forces of evil.

This change makes fighting in this Action RPG much more up-close and personal, keeping it from feeling like a repetition of the original game. This game was the first to introduce the ATB system to the Final Fantasy series, which has players inputting commands in real-time. While the ATB introduced by the previous game remains, this game re-introduces class customization in the form of a Job system.

It also features a new optional dungeon with a new boss. For example, the perspective from which the battles are presented creates an illusion of depth and looks very dynamic. This title is certainly a one-of-a-kind GBA experience. Nintendo's flagship game series, The Legend of Zelda, has to be on the list, and not just because of their name.

It is known that Nintendo puts the best efforts in their main games. However, the length was pretty much set in stone for this one.

The game will easily take around 30 hours to finish with a few breaks. Another game from Nintendo's ultra-popular pseudo-RPG franchise, here's another The Legend of Zelda title that deserves to be on this list. The game has its unique art style, some outstanding gameplay elements, and incredibly cool boss fights. Players have to play The Minish Cap close to 30 hours to finish it and it's side quests.

Another thing going for this title is that it isn't just a big game for GBA standards, but also a pretty good one. However, the popularity of this franchise couldn't hold it to one platform.

The game is close to 40 hours on GBA, making in the most extensive Final Fantasy release on a mobile platform at that time. A title that is pretty much forgotten now was released back in the launch year of the Gameboy Advance. Titled the Golden Sun , this was a Japanese role-playing video game and was one of the first massive RPGs on the console.

If you never played the original Final Fantasy on NES and you're a fan of the series, definitely check out Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls as well -- it's a wonderfully refreshed version of the classic games. All of these come highly recommended from me!

Oh I remember now that I've played Harvest Moon too It was fun and annoying at the same time, but I know many people who liked it a lot. It's a nice game. Livvy Well-Known Member.
